St. Catharines Road Runners and Walkers

January 31 2010

First off, I would like to thank Bernie for organizing a great bowling party yesterday. About fifty road runners and friends turned up for five pin bowling, something I have heard about but never played. Much enjoyed by all - a great elixir for a cold January night! This event is likely to be an annual (some mentioned semiannual) event.

Many thanks are to be extended to Nabil and Tony for the Fool Marathon and "Sun Your Buns" races over the last few weeks. Much enjoyed by all!

The next social will be a Trivia Night planned for February 19th or 20th (see below).  This was run a few years back and was a great success. We should know the exact date by the next email. Also in February is the Valentine's Race on the 14th - if you are planning to run let Dave know and volunteers are always appreciated. Also in February - a number of club members are planning to car pool to Mr. Ed's 21st Annual "Superbowl Warm-Up"Sunday, February 7, 2010 in Middleport, NY. They will be meeting at Pat O'Neil's house. Pat's direction..... "Anyone wishing to carpool should meet at his house at 9.30 am ready to go. Its exactly 50 minutes, once you cross the border at Queenston/Lewiston. Make sure you have passport and some dry clothes. Pat's address is 1916 York Road, Queenston. From St. Catharines, get to the QEW and York road, drive past the Husky and get to St. Davids on York road and drive towards Queenston and we are about 1km from Niagara parkway on the left. There are 2 driveways, so lots of parking." Contact Pat at  poneill@niggv.on.ca. Register online (2/3/2010) www.score-this.com

We may also have a pub run (downtown) in March.

Club volunteers - Henri is looking for a couple / few volunteers who would like to learn how to run the computer race software. Henri has been doing this job for years and would like to run a club race or two in the future - so, if you feel it's time to contribute to the club, please contact Henri at sirius_runner@hotmail.com. We are looking for more than one volunteer so that the job does not become a burden for anyone individual. While on the subject of volunteers Drew has offered to take over the job as the Club's webmaster - if you have any comments / suggestions please contact Drew at abayley@cogeco.ca - many thanks Drew. Jerry has also stepped forward as the new club scribe for the club's email. This email is a combo Peter / Jerry effort; the next will likely be Jerry's.

Regards

Peter
