"Fool" Marathon Updated January 19, 2014
Saturday, January 18th,
A winter classic! The race starts at the base of
Hydro Hill near the end of Lockhart Drive, St. Catharines
(near Brock) http://goo.gl/maps/433Sw
and follows the 12 Mile Creek trail out and back.
Did we forget to mention you get to do the notorious Hydro Hill
twice? Half marathoners and walkers are
No entry fee, but there are no marshals or aid
stations, so you should have run the course before in the winter, or
have a running partner who knows the course!
Full (Fool) marathon starts at 8
am, half at 10 am.
The post-race party will be held at our club's
home, the Niagara Ball Hockey Club, 16 Melbourne Ave. St.
Catharines http://goo.gl/maps/B8TsC starting about 12:30pm.
We had three Fool (Full) Marathon runners and
about 15 Half Marathon runners. Conditions were fairly typical for
mid January: about -5C with a bit of wind in the open sections and
there was a lot of ice under the light covering of dusty snow. Both
on the trail and back at the club camaraderie and mutual support
were clearly evident.
We had four runners compete in the full Fool
marathon: Greg Aspden, Kent Keiler, Diane Chesla and Maria
Pizzacalla. There were about 25 people in the half
