Dec 3: We had our 2023 Christmas Party last night at Club Capri in Thorold.   With close to 60 in attendance there was food, dancing, door prizes, a 50/50 draw and some refreshments too!  Thanks go out to the Social Committee, especially Lisa Galloway and Carla Royer, as well as to our Master of Ceremonies and DJ, Don Stoakley.  As club President Tony Pisano stated at the start of the evening, we have had a great year and look forward to exciting developments and events in 2024.

Dec 2:  Sponsor a family update:
Through the wonderful generosity of our members we have raised a total of $1,000 to donate to Community Care to sponsor a family in need this holiday season.  Thanks to everyone who supported this initiative and to Karen Evers for organizing it and coordinating with Community Care.

Nov 26:  Here is the Race Roster link for 2024 club membership. The fees are still the same as before! This could be a neat holiday gift idea!

Nov 6: The Winter version of the 12 Mile Creek half marathon will be back on January 20,  2024!  See the Trail races tab.
Oct 26: Please see News and photos for a new update regarding the origins of our club and the recent Man-a-Mile race.

Oct 23:  It was a big race weekend, with the NFIM (Niagara Falls International Marathon) being the main event. The photos above show runners in the various distances at NFIM, plus our intrepid cross country racers at the Pete Glavin cross country race in Ithaca, NY. and also at the Spartan race.  There is also a notable mention for our super fast Master runner!  (Dana is shown twice due to a small tech issue with the upload!)

Oct 16: Our next race is the Valentine's 5k road race, coming on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
We are very excited to announce that there will be chip timing used for the first time!  See link at the top of this page.

Congratulations to all the kids, walkers and runners who came out yesterday on a cool and wet morning and made this event a big success and fun too!
Thanks to all the generous event sponsors and to our race partner  Brain Injury Association of Niagara.  We held this event again at White Meadows Maple Farm on Effingham Road, west of St. Catharines.
All proceeds from the race go to BIAN.
C
ongratulations and thanks go out to our Race Director Tony Pisano and to all the dedicated volunteers!

Sept 4:  Our last Holiday Bike Ride for the season was held today and it was a great success in rather warm weather!  We had an A and B group ride finishing at Blackburn Brew House, Niagara Falls, and an impressive turn out!  A rode about 32km and B did about 18km.  Thanks to Kathy and Peter for planning the routes and also to Blackburn for opening the bar and kitchen just for our event!

On Saturday we had four athletes performing at the Subaru Guelph Lake II Triathlon/Duathlon.  Don Stoakley did the Sprint Duathlon, Emily Vancise tackled the Sprint Triathlon and Tony Pisano and Christine mastered the "Try-a-Tri".

There were also a couple of coffee runners at the Glenridge Naturalization site.  See the photos below. (In random order!)

Aug 27:  Yesterday we held our Annual General Meeting and summer barbecue in Burgoyne Woods.  There was a great turnout and a very enjoyable gathering and social time.  Thanks to Kathy Illich, Lisa Galloway and the Social Committee, and also to Trevor and Rose for the pig roast they provided.
Before the meeting, President Tony Pisano presented a cheque for $11,100 to Janet Davey, President of the Bruce Trail Club. This large donation came from our Niagara Ultra event in June.  The Ultra has now raised a total of $114,696 for the Bruce Trail Club, which has enabled it to maintain and acquire land on which the trail runs.  This remarkable donation would not have been possible without the consistent hard work and dedication of race Director Henri Ragetlie and his wife Diane, and of course all the participants and volunteers.
One of the highlights of each AGM is the announcement of the recipient of the President's award, which is given to a club member who has made a notable contribution to the club in many areas over the previous year.  We were delighted to learn that this year's winner is Don Stoakley!

June 17: The link for the 2023 Niagara Ultra results is here.

June 4:  The results from the 2023 12 Mile Creek Half Marathon and 7k can be found on the Trail Races tab.
