Upcoming Races
We host four races each year.   Each raises significant funds for local charities. The races are Valentine's 5k in
February, Head for the Hills trail races in April,  Twelve Mile Creek trail Half Marathon and the Niagara Ultra Marathon in June.

2020 "Fool" marathon

The "Fool" marathon (or half if you prefer) will be held again on Saturday, January 18, 2020.
The start is at the end of Lockhart Drive, St. Catharines, at 8 am for the FOOL (Full) marathon and for Halvers who prefer an early start.  10 am for the Halvers who wish a later start.

Here is the map link to the start:     https://tinyurl.com/tarmxuo

For those who are not familiar with this race, it is quite different to any of the other club races.  The course is the same as the Twelve Mile Creek Half Marathon held in June (see below) but there is no entry fee, no aid stations and also no marshals!  It is self-navigated so it is important that you run with someone who knows the course, if you are doing this event for the first time or if you have not run the Twelve Mile Creek half.  To complete a full "Fool marathon"  you need to run this course twice!  It will be probably be cold and slippery in parts.

We expect to have a post race lunch at the Ball Hockey club.  More details will follow.

New this year! In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the couple’s competition requires couples to cross the finish line together.  The couple’s time will then be their individual time and therefore eligible for an age group prize.

This is our longest established race and raises much needed funds for Gillian's Place, empowering abused women in Niagara.

In 2020 our oldest race is celebrating its 40th year!   Come out, run (or walk) a great course and enjoy Niagara’s best post-race party with the usual St. Catharines Road Runners’ hospitality.  “Get Out There!” magazine calls it “a unique event” that offers “good value”, and said “It’s no wonder that people keep coming back year after year to this event.”

In 2018, thanks to the outstanding support of our participants and sponsors, we donated $4,000 and another $3,600 in 2019. See below.

Race Highlights
One of North America’s most historic regions, featuring the Niagara escarpment, Decew Falls, early Welland Canal sites, Decew Falls Generating Station and Twelve Mile Creek rapids.  Out and back and looped section on multiple rolling hills. 80% hard-packed gravel on meandering and picturesque Twelve Mile Creek Trail also known as the historic Merritt Trail, in St. Catharines, Ontario.  6 electrolyte and water stations throughout, plenty of marshals and signage.    Technical t-shirt  guaranteed to pre-registered runners by May 23, 2020 at midnight.  Returning runners get their names on the back of the shirts.
In January, the course is home to the  Twelve Mile Creek Fool Marathon.  Climb Hydro Hill, part of the Niagara Escarpment, and find out why runners keep coming back to this unique race.  Great post-race party with food, beer and prizes.
